What is the IDEC?
A global gathering of youth adults who are interested democratic process and self-governance in educational spaces.
Is there a theme for this year's IDEC?
Yes, the theme is "Democratic Education for Action & Liberation
What are the dates of the IDEC?
September 11-13, 2026
What Time Zone Will the IDEC Take Place In?
It will be scheduled using the Eastern Time Zone, USA. However, we intend to schedule sessions that are convenient for all time zones as much as possible.
Is the IDEC Online or In Person?
This year, IDEC is online and will take place via the Zoom platform.
What Types of Session Will There Be?
They will vary from classic style to bi-directional conversational to peer support and networking type sessions and more. All sessions will be action-oriented and will focus on practical actions participants can take. Sessions will also be part of one or more program tracts. There will also be open sessions and networking sessions.
Will there be sessions for youth?
The plan is to have sessions for youth led by youth. We don't know how many youth sessions there will be at the moment.
What Language(s)will sessions be in?
Most sessions will be delivered in English; however, some sessions may be delivered in other languages, such as Spanish.
Will there be translation services?
We cannot guarantee that each session will be translated into other languages. Zoom does have a basic translation function. Please check your Zoom account to see if you have that function.
Can I submit a session? Is there an age limit?
Anyone of any age can submit a session proposal here. We recommend submitting your session ASAP as spaces fill up quickly.

How do I share the suggestions I have?
You can share your suggestions for IDEC and supports needed in your work here.
Who is IDEC open to?
IDEC is open to anyone of any age who is interested in democratic education.
How much does it cost to attend?
You can see the cost of the IDEC along with the youth rate here
Are there scholarships or discounted rates?
We have a sliding scale for adults and a discounted rate for youth. We may be able to offer special rates to a limited number of people. Much of this will depend on how many registrations we get in order to cover our costs. You can contact - peter@educationrevolution.org
Will Sessions Be Recorded?
The scheduled sessions will be recorded. Open times, break times, and networking times will not be recorded. Anyone who registers for this IDEC will receive a copy of the recordings.
